LAGO project saga continues… promoter sues Ville

LAGO promoter Cédric Grenon has, through a numbered company, filed a lawsuit against the Ville de Mont-Tremblant for $125,000. The allegations are that the Ville refuses to issue a swimming pool permit for a 72-unit development at lac Tremblant.

The Ville's position is that, due to existing servitudes, LAGO would first need permission from neighbours before a new permit could be issued. Les Amis de Mont-Tremblant fully supports the Ville's position.

We’ve conducted an extensive search of the records at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse; the developer lost against the neighbours at both the Superior Court and the Court of Appeal. The rulings prevented LAGO from extending a cul-de-sac for direct access to underground parking at Bâtiment 2. The developer responded by suing nearby property owners for $604,000. Now, LAGO is suing the Ville.

The saga continues…

Currently, LAGO is attempting to install a car elevator on a narrow cul-de-sac. We are also disappointed that LAGO continues to be marketed and sold as “residential” despite the C-8 hotel zoning which restricts owners to under 31 days of use per year. The end result is that LAGO benefits from increased density (due to C-8) and gets to advertise the project as residential.

Les Amis de Mont-Tremblant remains vigilant about this controversial project and developer; we view these serious issues at lac Tremblant as a major blight on the entire region.
We are also concerned about the situation at Indigo, where a park will be transformed into 18 housing units.

The saga continues…

The shores of lac Ouimet could be next; the developer is currently lobbying for Projet Vivo. If approved, the former site of the Gray Rocks hotel would be five times the size of LAGO. Will the developer also market Vivo as residential despite hotel zoning?

The saga of bad projects doesn’t have to continue… Say No to such projects. No to Vivo on lac Ouimet, and No to all promoters pushing high-density projects. Our population advocates responsible development and the social acceptability of new projects: lawsuits by promoters against the Ville go against the goals of our community.

We thank the Ville for their latest decision. The community needs more decisions that protect the interests of citizens.
