The LAGO project is going through a critical phase. According to the monitor’s report (MNP) of January 29 and the Court order of February 2:
Sale Failure: The solicitation process resulted in no satisfactory transaction.
New Strategy: The developer is now attempting a full refinancing to complete the work rather than selling the project as is.
Extended Protection: Creditor protection (CCAA) is extended until February 27, 2026.
Our point of view: Major fire safety deficiencies (RBQ, October 2023) have still not been corrected. This negligence exposes the Ville to significant financial liability in the event of a disaster.
