Vigilance: As part of the overhaul of the urban plan, our president, Robert Boisjoli, praised the mobilization of the Urban Planning Department. We also asked questions regarding the follow-up on the stop-work order against the developer Placements Jeannot Clément inc. (chemin du lac Gauthier). The Mayor confirmed that the site is now under active supervision.
20-year vision: Councilor Billie-Jeanne Graton delivered a plea against project-by-project development which threatens the identity of the Ville. She refuses to let Mont-Tremblant become a soulless environment and invites citizens to submit briefs during the urban planning overhaul to protect their quality of life.
Prudent planning: Councilor Jean-Luc Trahan is concerned about the pressure of 16,000 potential new residents on infrastructure. He deplores that the Ville must buy back sites (Beach & Tennis, Gray Rocks) to correct past mistakes and reminds us that the future of the overhaul depends on rigorous compliance with regulations.
Surprise in the Village: Councilor Catherine Drouin voted against the 16-unit housing project, denouncing a lack of transparency. She revealed that the amendment was only presented orally to the councilors at 6:30 p.m., just before the session—taking several elected officials by surprise.
Our viewpoint: Les Amis are pleased to note that the CCU’s recommendations were respected by council in the vast majority of cases.
The “Habitat Mont-Tremblant” project (16 units) remains a notable exception. We formally oppose the Mayor’s decision to approve this project by way of a last-minute amendment. This approach raises serious concerns among the many citizens who raised legitimate issues and deserved to be fully heard.
