Statement from five municipal councillors

Following our request for an official position regarding the application of Art. 253.36 LFM (letter dated March 21), Les Amis received the following statement from five municipal councillors elected under the Vision Mont-Tremblant banner:

“Madam, Sir,

We have clearly heard your concerns regarding property assessments and taxes, and we have taken note of your messages on this subject.

The new 2026-2028 assessment, combined with the recently adopted budget, has significant impacts on many Mont-Tremblant citizens, particularly in certain districts. This situation deserves all the required attention.

As members of the municipal council, we believe it is important that these concerns be examined seriously. In this context, we intend to ensure that the file moves forward. The measures proposed to mitigate these increases, particularly those provided for in articles 253.36 and following of the Loi sur la fiscalité municipale, will be subject to a global analysis to measure their effects on both citizens and municipal finances. Although the average tax increase was contained between 2.3% and 3.2%, certain situations on the ground raise very real issues.

We will formally ask the Mayor to place this item on the agenda of the next council meeting so that it can be fully examined. It is important that this reflection be conducted rigorously to identify solutions adapted to the reality of our citizens.

Our goal remains to find balanced solutions in the interest of the citizens.”

Billie-Jeanne Graton – Councillor, District 2
Catherine Drouin – Councillor, District 5
Mathieu Fleurant – Councillor, District 7
Jean-Luc Trahan – Councillor, District 1
Joël Charbonneau – Councillor, District 4
