Mont-Tremblant, January 21, 2026

Municipal council summary

Our cofounder, Manon Millette, represented Les Amis de Mont-Tremblant at the January 19 meeting:

Club Med / Groupe Brivia Follow-Up: After several unanswered requests to the Ville and other stakeholders, we asked whether the 380 Club Med units will be deducted from Groupe Brivia’s 500-unit quota. The Ville is expected to provide clarification shortly.

Exemption Denied: The council rejected an unusual request to regularize a lot with 0 m of frontage instead of the required 50 m.

Mont-Plaisant Protected Summit: A request for a regulatory amendment was refused. Les Amis firmly opposes any project, anywhere within the territory of Mont-Tremblant, that would undermine the “protected summit” status.

Rue Labelle (Bill 31): The municipal council approved a housing project on rue Labelle by invoking the exceptional exemption power of Bill 31, thereby bypassing review by the Comité consultatif d’urbanisme (CCU). Les Amis opposes this decision because it denies citizens their right to a referendum.

Appointments: The Ville has appointed an interim General Manager and a new Director of Urban Planning.

Community Safety (Firefighters): Mayor Pascal De Bellefeuille provided an update on the conflict with the firefighters’ association. Beyond the negotiations, firefighters stated last month that current infrastructure is inadequate to ensure the safety of our community. The equipment is designed for a base of 9,000 residents, yet on some weekends, we have 35,000 visitors. This lack of resources puts an enormous strain on our emergency services.

Chemin du Village Project (8 duplexes): The 16-unit housing project on Chemin du Village was rejected by the municipal council, with votes split evenly (4-4). The vote was largely divided along party lines between Vision Mont-Tremblant and Ensemble Mont-Tremblant. The Urban Planning Department had recommended approval of the project, as it met all technical criteria, while the CCU had recommended its refusal.

Our point of view: We encourage our elected officials to set aside their political differences and work together to govern the Ville for the benefit of all its citizens.
