2026 budget: transparency update

As we approach the budget adoption on January 29, we are working to quantify the real impact of the new three-year assessment roll. While the MRC des Laurentides has announced an overall increase of 39%, the Ville has yet to disclose a breakdown by sector or property category.

Why are we requesting this information? A 39% average increase can mask very different realities from one neighbourhood to another. Our goal is to provide you with a rigorous analysis of the tax impact by category (residential, condos, vacant land), so that every citizen can accurately understand the changes to their tax burden before the budget is adopted.

Despite our diligent requests to the Ville and the MRC, we have still not been able to obtain the necessary information.

In comparison, similarly sized cities like Bromont and Îles-de-la-Madeleine proactively published this information without requiring citizens to file access to information requests.

The result: This administrative delay prevents us from providing you with this essential tax data before the January 29th meeting. However, rest assured that we continue to work actively to obtain some answers.
